Bio

Originally from Denver and most recently Bainbridge Island, WA, Dr. Roger arrives at SPH after serving the North Slope communities as their EMS & Trauma Medical Director. Prior to that he helped develop a patient centered care philosophy in the first free-standing ED in Seattle, WA. Board certified in emergency medicine as well as hospice & palliative medicine (Bellevue Hospital/NYU and UN-Reno) Dr. Roger’s approach to emergency medicine focuses on understanding the presenting medical problem in the context of the entire person and tailoring his care to fit his patient’s needs from their myriad perspectives.

Passionate about language and anthropology he has lived and studied in India and continues to work toward some degree of fluency in Iñupiaq. When not caring for patients he enjoys cycling, photographing wildlife and all manner of things adrenaline related. You can also find him in the kitchen creating dishes that nourish the soul, playing his musical instruments or thinking about the theatre.
