South Peninsula Hospital is expanding access to same-day care with the opening of a walk-in Urgent Care clinic on June 1. Located at 4201 Bartlett Street, in the same building as the Family Care Clinic, Urgent Care will be open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. No appointments are necessary, and patients will have access to on-site labs and X-rays. Urgent Care will be staffed by Carrie Warren, FNP-C, who is moving from the Family Care team, and Kara Zimmerman, PA-C, who recently moved to Homer.
Safe Sitter® is a nationally recognized medically oriented course offered to youth in 6th-8th grade. The course is aimed at teaching youth the skills necessary to safely babysit and/or watch siblings at home.The program teaches youth how to handle major and minor medical emergencies and proper child-care skills.
Topics include:
- Injury Prevention
- Online Safety
- Care for a Choking Infant or Child First Aid
- The Business of Babysitting
- Basic Child Care (feeding, diapering)
- Safety for the Sitter Behavior Management
This course provides a well-rounded education that not only focuses on emergency preparedness and child care but also on the professionalism and responsibility required in babysitting. It’s designed to empower young adolescents with the confidence and skills necessary to handle various situations that may arise while caring for children.
