Bio

Sarah Spencer, DO, FASAM, is passionate about helping people with severe substance use disorders improve their health and quality of life by providing safe, accessible care in a judgment-free environment.

She moved from Maine to Alaska in 2009 to work in Valdez and relocated to the Kenai Peninsula in 2013. After beginning her career in full-spectrum family medicine, she became board certified in addiction medicine in 2015.

At South Peninsula Hospital, Sarah offers emergency department and inpatient consultation for patients with substance use disorders. She also provides outpatient care through Ninilchik Community Clinics mobile substance use outreach services and serves as medical director of Megans Place syringe access program. In addition, she works as an educator for nonprofit organizations.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys berry picking, gardening, raising pigs and chickens, canning, and cooking.
