In honor of a fabulous pioneer of this program, the needle and syringe exchange is now called “Megan’s Place”. Every first and third Tuesday from 5-7PM at the SPH Training Center at 203 W. Pioneer Ave., anyone in need can confidentially dispose of used needles & obtain clean needles, and access free resources & information including naloxone (overdose) kits, sanitary products, referrals for free HIV and Hepatitis C testing, fresh cookies, and MORE! Safe, confidential FREE community resource run by a great team of discreet, helpful and trained volunteers.

South Peninsula Hospital will accept sharps on the second Wednesday of each month from 1 – 3 p.m. During this time only, sharps will be accepted from the public and only at the loading dock entrance, found on the lower level east side below the main entrance.

Join Yoga instructor Asia Freeman to explore a combination of yoga and Pilates for strength, core stability, balance and flexibility.
We will meet on Wednesday evenings in May from 6-7pm at SPARC, expect all participants to attest to self-screening to attend, and we will space 6' apart. Masks are optional but always encouraged.
This class is accessible for all levels as long as you can sit on the floor, stand, and lie down independently.
Bring a water bottle, layers, a yoga mat and a yoga block if you have one (there will be some yoga mats available for use).

The South Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area Board regular monthly meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm, normally at the hospital, but until further notice on ZOOM. The Committee of the Whole will meet at 5:30 pm in a worksession. The public is welcome to attend both meetings. The ZOOM link is available on the Kenai Peninsula Borough website here.

Mark your calendars for the 29th Annual Homer Safe and Healthy Kids Fair on Saturday May 14th!
From 11-2 PM outside at the Homer High School, you can expect to find lots of fun ways to learn about our local youth heath and wellness resources at the many informational booths with healthy giveaways, games, activities and more all geared towards ages 18 and under at this family friendly event!
The annual Bike Rodeo will take place in the lower parking lot (helmets required and available for purchase).

Carrie Warren, FNP-C is the only certified obesity management specialist on the Kenai Peninsula, offering a comprehensive program at South Peninsula Family Care that includes behavior modification and a personalized approach.
She will be presenting on eating disorders and their causes, how they are identified, and treatment options. They are more common than we think.

The board members are appointed to three-year terms upon completing an interview process by the board's Membership Committee.
