June 6, 2023Every first and third Tuesday from 5-7PM at the SPH Training Center at 203 W. Pioneer Ave., anyone in need can safely & confidentially dispose of used needles & obtain clean needles, and access free resources and information including naloxone (overdose) kits, sanitary products, free rapid on-site HIV/AIDS & Hep-C testing and more.

Additionally, South Peninsula Hospital accepts sharps on the second Wednesday of each month from 1 - 3 p.m. During this time only, sharps will be accepted from the public and only at the loading dock entrance, found on the lower level east side below the main entrance. Refer to this brochure for additional information on safe options for needle disposal and this handout: What should I do if I find a needle?

Awareness in Action: Partying Safely in our Community Awareness in Action: Partying Safely in our Community

June 20, 2023Join Annie Garay, Community Health and Wellness Educator from South Peninsula Hospital, and Robin Holmes, MD from Kachemak Bay Family Planning for “Awareness in Action”, a free one-hour workshop on how to party safely in social environments. Learn to identify signs of non-consensual substance intake, test drugs for fentanyl, and identify signs of an overdose. Learn overdose response techniques and get a free Narcan kit. This event will be held Tuesday, June 20th from 5:30-6:30pm at Alice’s Champagne Palace, 195 E Pioneer Ave. in Homer. Enjoy free pizza, non-alcoholic beverages and door prizes. June 28, 2023Monthly Board meetings are generally held every fourth Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm. The public is welcome to attend the meetings virtually and in person in the hospital's conference rooms (located on the lower level - please use the Bartlett Street entrance).

South Peninsula Hospital, Inc. is non-profit organization governed by an 11-member board of directors which ensures the hospital is fiscally sound while maintaining the quality of care and types of services desired by the residents in the Southern Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area.
The board members are appointed to three-year terms upon completing an interview process by the board's Membership Committee.
The Board welcomes and encourages community input for the direction of your hospital. Please plan to attend a meeting (public comments are welcomed at the beginning and end of the meeting), or email a message to them at sphbod@sphosp.org.
